I've curated a page of some of my favorite designs over the years. It includes work in a variety of styles, from Bauhaus to collage; mediums, including print, social media, and web; and tools, Photoshop, InDesign, and Figma. I hope you enjoy!
I grew up eating German food from my grandma who immigrated to the U.S. from Germany when she was 16 years old. She doesn’t really cook with recipes, instead relying on memory and experience. My mom has spent time with my grandma over the past decade learning to cook our favorite German meals. She has transcribed them into recipes we could more easily follow.
I wanted to make a cookbook to compile some of our favorite recipes into a book I could share with my family. My mom cooked up the amazing food and I took it from there. I did the photography, edited the photos in Lightroom, and did the design work in InDesign. I went with a Bauhaus inspired cover and kept the recipe pages super clean to emphasize the photography. I am super proud of how it turned out.
I got to work with the BYU Men’s soccer team my last year of college. I designed and posted social media content for the team for their entire season. These are a couple of my favorite designs that I created in Photoshop.
The first is a Facebook Cover I could update for each upcoming game; the second I would take photos from the game as they came in and create a post with the halftime and final scores; the third was for an alumni game. I enjoyed really getting to refine their brand image and come up with a lot of great content at scale.
Smart Power Solar brought me on early to help them refine their brand and level up their marketing materials. I worked on both their customer facing and company facing social media accounts, flyers, banners, booklets, business cards, and brochures. These designs are from their Team Smart Power Instagram.
They loved the look of the three-post grid, so I always worked with that in mind, however, I wanted to ensure that individual posts were still able to stand on their own, for those who didn’t go to the companies profile to see the full effect. These are some of my favorite designs. I think they have a lot of visual interest and stood apart from the mass of solar companies out there.
In my media buying class in college we were grouped up and asked to do a deep dive on a company of our choosing. We created a campaign for Panda Express, including consumer research, creative briefs, and media buys. I designed the look of my groups book using InDesign. The results are visually interesting and much more engaging than a book of spreadsheets and budgets.
I was asked to come up with responsive designs to modernize their landing page. I focused on fixing their spacing, simplifying the form, and adding some visual interest with relevant images to match the rest of their site.
As part of an on campus internship, myself and three team members were assigned to create a social media presence for the BYU Recycling Center. After interviewing the plant manager there was two main things they wanted to convey:
1. BYU has a recycling program that is making a large impact behind the scenes
2. There are simple things the average student can do, like knowing which bin things go in, that will make a huge difference for the team down the line.
With that in mind, I designed these posts in Photoshop. I went with a collage and nature heavy theme to make things look modern and interesting, and focus on the end goal of sustainability. I really had fun creating these posts, as I feel like it is a departure from my minimalistic tendencies. It allowed me to stretch some creative muscles and showcase my design skills in a new style.
